What is the Holiday Train Display & Christmas Spectacular?

The Garden State Central Model Railroad Club, Inc. presents its annual holiday train display at InfoAge Science & History Museums in Wall, NJ, featuring an array of model train layouts, holiday scenery, lights, and decorations.

Is this event family friendly?

Yes. The show is designed to be welcoming for families, train enthusiasts, and casual visitors alike.

When is it happening?

Saturdays and Sundays in December before Christmas. 2026 Dates: December 5 & 6, 12 & 13, and 19 & 20. Hours: Noon–5 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. Last entry at 4PM. Trains stop running at 5PM.

Is this the same as InfoAge’s regular schedule?

No. The holiday train display is open only on the Saturdays and Sundays listed above.

Where is it located?

InfoAge Science & History Museums, 2201 Marconi Road, Wall, NJ 07719, inside the historic Camp Evans National Historic Landmark.

Is the venue handicapped accessible?

Yes. The museum campus is equipped with ramps and handicapped entrances. Inquire at the gate or call (732) 280-3000

Is free parking available?

Yes, parking is free in the museum lot on Marconi Road.

How much are tickets?

Adults $15 & Children $10 (4-12, under 4 free)

Do you still do a Toys for Tots discount? Yes

Yes. Bring a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots an $8 adult or $5 child admission (one toy per admission).v

Does admission include the rest of the museums?

Do I need to buy tickets in advance, or can we just show up?

All tickets are sold walk-up day of show.

What will we see?

Multiple model train layouts brought in just for the holidays are presented with special seasonal decorations throughout the campus. The large, permanent HO scale layout being built by your hosts, the Garden State Central Model Railroad Club, Inc., will be open as will the museum room featuring push-button layouts to operate and historic artifacts from model railroading as well as the coal and steel industries being modeled. Plus your admission includes the entire InfoAge campus of museums.

How long does a visit typically take?

Allow 1-1.5 hours to see the trains. 2-3 hours if visting more museums on site. 

Is it usually crowded?

It can get busy, especially in early aftenoons. If you are coming just for the trains, we suggest arriving after 3pm when the crowds are usually lighter. Trains stop running at 5pm.

Is it a live/moving display?

Yes, the trains run continuously during show hours.

Can we play with the trains?

Some, yes. There are designated Lionel  “hands-on” layouts that visitors can run, featuring new and vintage models. The railroad museum room includes push-button operated trains.

Can we take photos?

Yes,  many guests enjoy taking photos of the displays and of their familiesd running the trains or talking to Santa Claus. We encourage visitors to share images and reviews on social media.

Is this good for toddlers/young kids?

Yes, though small children may require a lift to see some of the larger train layouts.

Are there other holiday activities besides the trains?

Yes! Santa visits, crafts, hot cocoa, snacks, and our gift shop are all there to entertain. 

Will serious model railroaders enjoy the display?

Yes, there is something for everyone.

Is the museum accessible for strollers/wheelchairs?

Yes. Ramps and paved areas allow for full access.

Are restrooms available on site?

Yes, in multiple areas around the campus.

Is food or drink available?

Limited beverages and snacks are for sale in the gift shop.

What should we wear/bring?

You will be going outside for brief moments between buildings (though most are connected via inside corridors). Please dress according to the weather forecast.

Is there a last-entry cutoff?

No, but trains stop running promptly at 5pm and visitors must leave the premises then.

Are pets allowed?

No, service animals only.

Not at this time.
